BELLINGHAM, WASH. (October 8, 2008) – Bluewater Productions announced this week their latest horror title; BARTHOLOMEW OF THE SCISSORS issue #1 has completely sold out.

This unique title has a cutting edge style of art – wood burning. Daniel Crosier produced the art and Chad Helder writes the series.

This classic horror tale is described as; Spectral Phantasms have invaded our world. These ghostly creatures from another dimension occupy the human brain and endow their host with spectacular paranormal abilities. Private investigator Gordon Watt, long aware of the spectral phantasms, investigates a bizarre series of scissor-murders. With the help of a powerful psychic named Jessica, Gordon soon discovers a connection between the phantasms and the mystery of a vengeful, undead boy named Bartholomew. But humanity faces a greater threat: the White Blob emerges from the abyss to colonize pockets of human society. Gordon and Jessica must enlist the help of Bartholomew and the hideous power of his Scissor Swarm or face assimilation by the growing colony of the White Blob.

There are currently no plans to go back for a second printing for BARTHOLOMEW OF THE SCISSORS #1. Fans are encouraged to visit their comic shop and pre-order their favorite BWP books before it’s too late! Bluewater is close to selling out of their “Vincent Price Presents” title. Jason Schultz BWP Vice-President says, “We did a huge overprint on Vincent Price and we are almost sold out of issue #1”.

“People are impressed with this title. I get more questions on how Daniel Crosier did the art on this title. I have seen the original art and yes they are done of panels on wood – it is inane but cool at the same time.” said BWP Managing Editor Darren G. Davis. “It just goes to show that you don’t have to be mainstream to reach the market. Readers just want great stories with great art, and if you can deliver that to them, they’ll come back for more every month.”

For more information on Bluewater Productions, visit them online at their all-new, recently redesigned Web site (http://www.bluewatercomics.com), or check them out in your local comic book shop!

Boulder, Co- In continuing with Time Warp Comics’ 24th year anniversary activities, two of Bluewater Production’s artists will be signing books on Saturday, October 4 from noon to 2pm.

Time Warp Comics is located at 3105 28th St. Boulder, CO 80301.

Daniel Crosier, artist on the new series, “Bartholomew of the Scissors” will be on hand to talk comics and sign books.

Crosier has burst onto the scene in the past year and has developed a watershed wood burning technique for his books that has the industry talking.

“The book is called BATHOLOMEW OF THE SCISSORS and it looks to be a comic book experience that is truly unique. The artist, Daniel Crosier, draws with a wood burner and the pages are actually burned into the wood giving it a creepily antique-like look. Written by Chad Helder, this bizarre horror miniseries will be in stores September 24th.”- Ain’t It Cool News.com

“Crosier’s style, wood burning, is not only undeniably unique in form, but an inspired method for bringing out Helder’s haunting demonic otherworld.”- Horror’s Not Dead.com

Crosier is also the writer and illustrator on select “Vincent Price Presents” books from Bluewater, and will be the creator of the upcoming series “Distortions Unlimited Presents” in conjunction with Greeley based horror animatronics company, Distortions Unlimited.

Fans will recognize artist Kevin Gentilcore’s art from Bluewater’s widely popular series “Ray Harryhausen Presents -Return to Mysterious Island.” Max Landis, son of film director John Landis, is the writer on the series. Gentilcore will be on hand sign books and speak into the specifics on the Harryhausen series.

Gentilcore’s artwork and the series are based off of properties produced by legendary filmmaker Ray Harryhausen, and has been endorsed by industry pro’s.

“Mysterious Island is a great story and very unique with it’s handling of all things Harryhausen with respect to the original Verne concept. Oh and don’t forget the monsters! Fans won’t be disappointed!”- Brokenfrontier.com

For more information on the artists visit www.DanielCrosier.com, Kevin Gentilcore and www.KevinGentilcore.com and Bluewaterprod.com www.Bluewaterprod.com.

In a world filled with stories about smaller publishers not being able to pay their creators, you’ve been chugging along strongly for a bit now and are adding new and unusual comics (like Bartholomew of the Scissors) to your lineup. What’s something that has been pivotal in Bluewater’s success?

Darren Davis: Finding the right talent at the right time. Bluewater has been fortunate in being able to attract both new and established talent based on the strength of our titles. I will admit it is very tough being an independent. You don’t have the same distribution channels, marketing reach and budget for marquee name artists as the major players. So you need to be different. You need to continually do things that will make you stand out from the pack. But, you have to back up all the talk and positioning with quality product. Bartholomew of the Scissors is a great example. Chad Helder wrote an original and compelling horror tale that was illustrated using a unique wood burning technique by artist Daniel Crosier. The finished product is amazing. Your average comic book collector has only a finite amount they will spend on their collection, so we try to honor their investment in us by making sure the writing is strong, the art is polished, professional and unique, and that the physical product is good or better than other books.
