Comic Book Creator & Director Daniel Crosier’s The Exquisite Vanishteer Comic Book Available On Graphicly.com

The comic book The Exquisite Vanishteer, written & illustrated by Daniel Crosier is available on the digital comic book site Graphicly.com. The comic book is the inspiration for the feature film Isolation Man in production at Crazy Horse Studios, based in Denver, CO and co-directed between Crosier and Dane Bernhardt.

The Exquisite Vanushteer comic book depicts the bad day where the Vanishteer, a short-minded, self-idolized superhero has a bad day and accidentally makes the human population vanish. This sets up the film premise where the Vanishteer is forced to resolve his unfortunate deed.

Crosier’s interior artwork was the result of a weekend experiment with ink, charcoal, and the loose cartoon stylized approach.

DENVER BASED FEATURE FILM, COLFAX & 15TH , PREMIERES
AT THE DENVER FILM CENTER, MONDAY MARCH 5TH AT 7PM.

Denver, CO – Director Stephen Santa Cruz & cinematographer Joel Stangle’s feature film Colfax &15th will screen one night only at the Denver Film Center on March 5th. The film is a fictional account exploring a faction of Denver’s criminal underworld as it intertwines with the bounty retrieval business. The film features all local actors including Joseph Trujillo and Ariana Sanchez. Q&A with Santa Cruz will follow the screening and Denver.

Colfax & 15th is about Issac, a young hood turned bounty hunter, who finds himself caught within a hidden web of corruption. He begins to unravel the shady organization of his employer, Rome, a bail-bondsman who’s fallen deep into a world of criminality. As Issac tries to reform his life, he is led down a path of deceit into an unseen subculture that teeters on the edge of law and lawlessness. Now, with a child on the way, Isaac must use his knowledge of the streets to survive and collect on one last bounty.

The two aspiring filmmakers, Stangle and Santa Cruz, both from Denver, Colorado, set out to make a film that authentically reflected the thriving but loosely monitored bail bonds and bounty retrieval industry in the modern western United States.

Santa Cruz describes the nature of this film and its exploration of a hidden facet of Denver:

“…we wanted to portray a side of the modern west that is seldom seen: corrupt, disenfranchised, impoverished, addicted and violent. It’s ugly at its surface, but underneath we find the human condition at work.”

The screening begins at 7pm. The Denver Film Center Colfax is located at 2510 East Colfax, Denver, CO 80206, in the Lowenstein CulturePlex.

Bluewater Productions presents a unique horror comic that revolves around existing full-scale monster and alien animatronics in the new series titled “Distortions Unlimited.”

The three issue series is based off of licensed characters crafted by Distortions Unlimited based in Greeley, CO. Distortions is world-renowned for creating shocking props, masks and animatronics that have been the mainstay of the dark amusement industry for the last 30 years. The company is best known for reproducing the 16ft queen alien from the film “Alien” cast from the original molds, as well as designing the stage props for music industry icon Alice Cooper’s Brutal Planet tour.

Daniel Crosier, writer and illustrator on the series, has a unique connection with the project. “I grew up near the Distortions studio in Greeley. I used to tour the studio when I was a kid and was fascinated by their creations. I suggested to Darren Davis the president of Bluewater to partner with Distortions to develop another horror comic. Darren liked the idea, so we approached them with the concept. Distortions was enthusiastic about the partnership and green-lighted the project.”

The entire series focuses on Distortions’ Rage animatronic. Described as half Neanderthal, half beast, and all fury, the Rage is one of Distortions’ most popular characters. Ed Edmunds, president of Distortions elaborates of the protagonist of the books. “Rage has been a fan favorite for years. The sheer size of the piece commands attention and really gives people a good scare. He’s a great character to base the series on.”

The second issue of the series continues into the horror unleashed on the earth with the collapse of a mine. The plot was crafted with multiple, intertwining layers that combine fantasy and true-life events ripped from today’s headlines. Local Denver celebrities, Uncle Nasty and Matt Need from Clear Channel’s KBPI and Allana Rizzo from Rocky Mountain Fox Sports Net have lent their likeness to the project.

Crosier will bring a unique look to the books by illustrating with his watershed technique. All covers and interior pages of the series will be created with graphite on wood poplar panels. The books will have a high contrast, distressed, organic look.

The creative team will also include veteran inker Peter Palmiotti. Palmiotti has worked for a variety of comic publishers including Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Image.

The release date is for the first issue of Distortions Unlimited #2 will be February 2011.

Denver, CO- Daniel Crosier, writer & director, is organizing a teaser trailer shoot for the b&w horror feature Sons Of Soil later this summer. The teaser’s purpose is to garner more investors, attention & promote the larger feature film project to be shot at a later time.

SONS OF SOIL centers on three backwoods characters in a triptych of short stories greatly influenced by such films as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Fellini’s 8 1/2, and Tetsuo The Iron Man.

The pre-production on the trailer is currently underway. Interested parties and financial backers may check out Kickstart to pledge funds or to obtain additional information.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/27160373/sons-of-soil-promo-trailer-shoot

Crosier is best known for his comic book work. He has exploded onto the comic book scene in the last few years. Illustrating and writing multiple, nationally distributed comic book projects created with an innovated wood burning technique that include, “Bartholomew of the Scissors” and “Distortions Unlimited,” his writing has captured the attention of the industry.

Another project Crosier heads is the performance samurai demon/neo-kabuki group OFM: OdAm fEI mUd.

Crosier manages and directs the live performance group that includes a band, aerialists, elaborate practical effects, and a multi-media introduction.

Crosier explains his vision for Sons of Soil and how his background in comic books background and performance art offers him an edge his new venture in feature film.

“Sons of Soil is a extension of the mediums I’m passionate about,” states Crosier. Fusing together my interests in unique performance quirky, off beat content, and striking visuals, Sons wraps all of these aspects into the film horror genre that I thoroughly enjoy and study. I feel I can bring an undefined experience to the audience with this project and push the envelope with new innovations.”

After a near death experience due to a lifetime bout with chronic asthma and allergies in his early 20′s, Crosier’s unapologetic tenacity is driving him to finish the horror film that began to gestate in his early childhood with inspiration from the plains town of Kersey, Co.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Local Celebrities Team Up To Sign Distortions Unlimited #1 at ComicFest

Denver, CO- Distortions Unlimited #1 comic book, published by Bluewater Comics, creator Daniel Crosier teams up with KBPI’s Uncle Nasty, Matt Need, and Distortions Unlimited founder Ed Edmunds to sign at ComicFest. The signing takes place on Sunday April 18th, at 11am at the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center.

The Distortions Unlimited comic book series is based off of licensed characters crafted by world -renowned Distortions Unlimited in Greeley, CO.

Distortions is internationally known for creating shocking props, masks and animatronics that have been the mainstay of the dark amusement industry for the last 30 years. The company is best known for reproducing the 16ft queen alien from the film “Aliens” cast from the original molds, as well as designing the stage props for music industry icon Alice Cooper’s Brutal Planet tour.

Crosier explains his motivation to translate Distortions characters into a comic book series. “I grew up near Ed Edmund’s Distortions Unlimited studio in Greeley. I used to tour the studio when I was a kid and was fascinated by their creations. I was inspired by the characters and believed they would translate really well into a comic book series due to their diversity and mythos. My challenge was to create an effective horror genre storyline that seamless incorporated the diverse catalog of characters.”

DISTORTIONS UNLIMITED #1 is a good old-fashioned horror tale. Crosier is both behind the words and art. The story is evolves around chaos that follows a group of miners in Brazil. Under suspicious circumstances, mummified bodies of some miners are discovered. Something in the dark mine mummified these men, something not known.

Crosier based many of the characters likenesses in the series off of local Denver celebrities. Top ranking radio personalities from KBPI’s Uncle Nasty and Matt Need likeness are used. Crosier met the on air duo when they took an interest in Crosier’s wood-burned comic work. Crosier was featured on their show on multiple occasions.

Distortions Unlimited #1 is receiving rave reviews from industry critics. Web giant Ain’t it Cool News describes the book, “What works with DISTORTIONS UNLIMITED is the foreboding sense of dread that permeates every panel. Crosier isn’t afraid to make his panels dark. He’s got a great sense of pacing too. There are a few scenes where a character is staring into darkness that are paced perfectly and make the hairs on your neck stand on end.”

Distortions Unlimited #1 will be available for purchase at the show. However, the entire panel will be available one day only to sign copies and answer questions at ComicFest.

ComicFest is located at the Hilton Garden Inn at 7675 East Union Avenue, Denver, CO 80237. For more information visit www.denvercomicfest.com or www.thothengine.net.
